When Eli, Jacob, Melissa, Rachel, Rose, & Taylor
met each other at summer fiddle camps... ...they became eager to continue playing with each other more than just once a year. They sensed that, somehow, there might be a way to continue the fun tunes and fun times. So, as string players steeped in various folk traditions, they did what folk musicians have done for centuries...
...they formed a band.
Guided by a mission to explore making music through camaraderie, The Sound Accord brings together six friends with varied musical backgrounds, distinct sensibilities, and a shared love for collaboration. As a chamber-folk string sextet, they draw upon their eclectic strengths and skills to create innovative arrangements of melodies
both old and new. More than that, though, The Sound Accord seeks to push the boundaries of what string bands can be and do. In their first tour together, they embedded themselves outside Phoenix, Arizona, for a week of school visits, educational programs, and full-length concerts, sharing their vision of music making with young string players around the area. Together, they see the band not only as a musical outlet for themselves, but as a tool for helping educators and students to dream about the possibilities of making music with friends, despite traditional notions about how instruments should play together. Why can't you have a band with 3 cellists? To have fun with friends while making music:
this is their fundamental pursuit. This is their sound accord. Taylor Morris & Jacob Davida // fiddle
